Giving back!

One thing that is very important to me year round is giving back to my community! I love to do candy baskets or favors for fundraisers/charity events, where the money received for my goods goes to a great cause. One of my favorite philanthropies to work for is the Susan G. Komen foundation. My grandma passed away of breast cancer, so this particular philanthropy hits home. That’s why when I was asked to donate a candy basket for the 3rd Annual Cincinnati Komen Crop For The Cure, which is a scrap booking/crafting event to help raise money for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Greater Cincinnati Affiliate, I jumped on it. I put together an all pink candy basket with lots of goodies including: candy, stationary, candles, scarf and other fun items! The basket ended up going for $40 raffle tickets and the event alone raised over $8,000.

A few weeks later I was again approached to do a small candy buffet for the Charming Charlie’s event I blogged about a few weeks ago. Where 10% of all proceeds also went to the Susan G. Komen foundation. This was a wonderfully fun event, we were able to shop and know the money was going to help fight the cure for breast cancer! There were wonderful vendors there and the event raised $142 to be donated. See picture below of the small  Christmas display that was set up for Dulce Designs!

With the Christmas season approaching it is the best time to give back to your community! I am always looking for new fundraiser opportunities and would love to hear about some new ones coming up. What are some of your favorite fundraisers/charity events to work with?

Also, I wanted to give a special thank you to Kristin Siegel from Creative Memories for contacting me about the wonderful events listed above! And to my cousin Sarah Keaton for helping me work the Charming Charlies event, if I myself am not at an event then 99% of the time it is Sarah there in my place. I appreciate her help and support for Dulce Designs! :)
